The Zoo Med thermometer humidity gauge (Digital Combo) shows temperature and humidity on one display. It also has two independent remote probes. So you can place them in different spots. For example, put the temperature probe at the basking area and the humidity probe in the middle of the enclosure. In addition, the temperature probe is waterproof, so you can also use it in water.
In fact, guessing temperatures is one of the most common husbandry mistakes. Instead, a gauge like this lets you check the gradient you set with your thermostat. Then mount the probes inside with the suction cups, and keep the display outside where it stays dry. Finally, route the cables so the animal cannot chew them or get tangled in them.
Instructions
Using suction cups, mount the probe inside the enclosure (wet or dry). Mount the digital display in a dry location outside the enclosure. Press power (pwr) button to turn on. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds to turn off. Slide fahrenheit/celsius switch to desired setting. Uses one LR44, 1.5 v battery (included).

Keeper notes
Check the Zoo Med thermometer humidity gauge against a second thermometer now and then. Also replace the battery when the display fades, because a fading display is hard to read.
