Description
Highlights
- Fine organic coconut husk fiber
- Triple washed, compressed brick
- Expands when soaked in water
- Holds humidity, absorbs odor
- Single brick (650 g)
Lugarti coco peat is the fine fiber left from making other coconut products, triple washed and compressed into a brick that expands when soaked. The husk is sustainably harvested in Sri Lanka.
Coco peat is softer and holds more moisture than coco chips, which makes it a good bedding for amphibians and other soft-bodied tropical species, and a useful ingredient in a homemade bioactive mix. Soak the brick, fluff it apart and squeeze out the extra water before use.
Features
100% Natural, Biodegradable, Eco-Friendly, Dust-Free, Easy to Clean, Maintains Humidity, Absorbs Odor
Keeper notes
Lugarti coco peat expands a lot once soaked, so use a bucket with plenty of warm water and give it time to absorb. Then squeeze out the excess water: it should feel damp, not dripping. For amphibians, use dechlorinated water. On its own it can compact over time, so many keepers mix it with coco chips, sphagnum moss or bark for a looser bedding. Kept just damp, it also makes a good egg-laying medium in a lay box. Spot clean regularly and replace it when it smells sour.
