- Focused basking heat and light
- Creates a sun-like hotspot
- Durable, long lasting, energy efficient
- 75W or 100W
The Lugarti reptile basking spot bulb puts out focused heat and light, creating a natural, sun-like hotspot. A proper basking spot lets a reptile thermoregulate, which drives digestion, metabolism and normal basking behavior.
Pick the wattage by the size of the enclosure and the distance to the basking spot, and measure the surface temperature with a thermometer rather than guessing. Run every heat bulb on a thermostat, and use a dome rated for the wattage with a ceramic socket.
Keeper notes
Start with the lower wattage for smaller enclosures and move up only if the basking spot stays too cool; it is easier to add heat than to fix a spot that is too hot. Measure the basking surface with a probe thermometer or temperature gun at the height where the animal sits, and adjust the height or wattage until it is right for your species. Give the animal a cooler side to retreat to, because a reptile needs a gradient, not a uniformly hot enclosure. Replace a Lugarti reptile basking spot bulb when it burns out or the basking temperature drops, and keep a spare on hand.
