Description
Highlights
- Sphagnum peat moss and milled sphagnum moss
- Soft on delicate amphibian skin
- Holds humidity, easy to burrow in
- 100% natural
- 10 dry quarts
Lugarti frog substrate is a blend of high quality sphagnum peat moss and finely milled sphagnum moss, soft enough for the delicate skin of amphibians. It holds humidity well at depth while the surface can stay drier to the touch, which helps prevent skin infections.
Burrowing species such as pacman frogs, pixie frogs and rain frogs can dig in and settle down in it, and live plants grow well in it. Use it deep, spot clean daily and replace it when needed; with a clean-up crew of isopods and springtails it lasts for months.
Perfect For
Tree Frogs, Pacman Frogs, Pixie Frogs, Salamanders, Newts, Many Other Amphibians
Ingredients
Special blend of high quality Sphagnum Peat Moss and Milled Sphagnum Moss.
Instructions for Use
Fill the enclosure with an appropriate amount of substrate for the particular species you’re housing. The deeper the better, for all species. Spot clean daily and completely replace when necessary. It can last many months with a proper depth, especially with an established clean up crew (e.g. isopods, springtails, etc.).
Keeper notes
Moisten Lugarti frog substrate with dechlorinated water before use, since amphibians absorb water through their skin. Fill it deep enough for your frog to bury itself completely, and keep it damp rather than wet: if water pools when you press the surface, it is too wet. Spot clean waste as soon as you see it, because a burrowing frog can sit in the substrate for days at a time.
